James E. Allen, the James E. Allen was born February 23, in Louisiana, Missouri, first child of William H. and Annie May (Scoggins) Allen. When Jim was still a babe, his father transplanted the family to the Montana mountains where he (the father) became one of the state's early lumbermen and, also, a fantastic hunters' mountain guide.
Dr. Allen was born in Allen’s great nephew Allen Rizzi once published a short biography of James Allen online entitled “On James Edmund Allen, Illustrator”, included in this exhibit. His self-published e-book about James “Edd” Allen and his brother Elmer (“Lee”), The Horse Whisperers from Anaconda, confirms that Allen's middle name was Edmund.
